Anti Hum Fan Control

Don t hook up ceiling fans to dimmer switches.

Turn a ceiling fan that hums at a slow speed to high speed and then turn it back to slow. They make a de hummer for one fan installs but not multi. Hunter fan said that you can have no hum operation of multiple fans on one controller but it must be capcitor driven not solid state and probably has to be a stepped control not variable. Screw the control to the electrical box.

Sometimes this solves the problem. If the ceiling fan is humming with an anti hum control you ll need to replace the entire switch. I purchased an hvac inline duct fan and used this product to control the speed. Causes my fan to hum.

The 2nd floor of my house gets very hot in the summer. The fan control company said it s loose motor windings on the one fan it s normal. Alternatively if the humming you re referring to is the same as smelling such as my dogs bottom was humming then you would want to give it a wash and encourage the use of deodorant. Most are not designed for dimmers and in addition to producing a humming noise the dimmer switch can burn out the motor.

Some ceiling fans may have already had an anti hum control installed. Attach the faceplate once again.
